'Building Capacity through Financial Management' - A Practical Workshop for Accountants Volunteering Overseas

Places are available on the 2 March and 13 April dates.

By John Cammack, CIPFA 01/01/2012

If you are considering an assignment and would like to find out more about the role of the volunteer, our partners and the many other stakeholders within the international development sector, you are very welcome to attend one of our Volunteer Workshops.

Each workshop is delivered by, John Cammack a very experienced independent consultant in the non profit sector. John is a qualified accountant, manager and teacher. He holds an MSc in International Development Management, and an MBA. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Finance and accountancy (CIPFA), and the Chartered Management Institute (CMI). John has been involved with international development work for over 20 years, previously as Head of International Finance at Oxfam GB and then Senior Lecturer in Accounting & Financial Management at Oxford Brookes University.

The workshop runs from 9.45am - 5.15pm. It’s a great way to learn about development, the role of our volunteers & partners, meet with like-minded people and allay your fears. The day is very relaxed with only 15 - 20 volunteers in attendance. It is carefully designed to prepare each volunteer for the challenges and environments they are likely to encounter, mixing real case studies and volunteer feedback with John's wealth of experience in the field.

If you are considering volunteering overseas we would strongly recommend attending a workshop as soon as possible. Please note that due to the limited number of places available on each workshop advanced booking is also recommended.

Our next workshops will be held on Friday 2 March and 13 April at the ICAEW head quarters One Moorgate Place, London EC2R 6EA

The cost for the workshop is £145.00

Please note: This will be the first instalment of the Placement Fee for attendees that later accept an assignment

We can only confirm your place upon receipt of the funds. Currently workshops are fully booked 6 weeks in advance.

To book a place please e-mail info@afid.org.uk or call 0203 287 1177
