Finance Capacity Building Manager in Uganda

Our partner is an established UK organisation, looking for assistance from an experienced accountant in their Kampala, Uganda office. The role would be working alongside the country director and finance manager, and giving practical, hands on support. The Uganda office supports programmes focusing on education, secure livelihoods, participation and governance, and health.

Your role will include:

  • Review the current finance manual and prepare a full first draft of an updated finance manual to include a section on financial procedures at the field office in Gulu and including clear standard operating procedures and guidelines together with updated templates according to policy.
  • Prepare a full first draft of an Implementing Partners Manual to include both budgeting and financial reporting templates.
  • Assist in implementing the recommendations made in the recent report  by  the regional finance officer
  • Assist and give training in the implementation of the accounting system SUN5
  • Assist and give training in finance procedures to non finance staff and partners.
  • Review current budget monitoring mechanisms and make recommendations for improvement
  • Review current cost allocation procedures and support the development of a salary allocation monitoring tool
  • Develop clear guidelines in the role of finance in procurement and other office logistics.
  • Work with the finance manager and the regional finance officer to prepare a finance capacity development plan for the Uganda offices.


This role has costs covered, including flights, accommodation, daily living expenses, and vaccination costs.
