100 Accountants & 12,000 Hours
In a little over 18 months since our first volunteer arrived in Cambodia we are pleased and incredibly proud to announce the placement of our 100th. Ernst & Young accountant Sarah Johnson’s assignment with Indian NGO Sharana in Pondicherry will also take the total hours of pro-bono financial management, coaching and consultancy by our amazing volunteers to over 12,000 hours; an extraordinary effort that has assisted the development and in some cases survival of some fantastic community based organisations. Check out the Top 100 on our Volunteer Hall of Fame.
This month's newsletter features two very interesting interviews; Gerrard Graf, Finance Manager at innovative UK charity SolarAid, reflects on his switch from the Big 4 into the International Development sector and the new challenges he faces working in sub Saharan Africa. Experienced accountant Stephen White gives an honest insight into the ups and downs of life as a volunteer in a remote village in northern Uganda. For more inspiring volunteer stories from Ghana, Cambodia, Rwanda, Malawi & Kenya check out our featured bloggers below.
