System Assessment and Implementation | Malawi | Start: Flexible | 3 weeks
 
Our partner is a rural community development organisation In Malawi that aims to eradicate poverty, promote a gender-sensitive society with environmental conservation underpinning all their programme activities. They currently have projects in bee-keeping, maize milling, community health, education and a village saving loans scheme.
 
They will be receiving funding for a year from two well-known international donors. They would like to ensure that their accounting system is fit for purpose when the funding comes in. You would in effect be setting up a basic accounting system from scratch and also be helping to create a financial procedures manual, assist with budgeting as well as donor reporting.
 
Though this does seem like a lot to get done, as our partner is quite a grassroots organisation, you should be able to get everything done in 2-3 weeks.
 
This assignment would suit a well-seasoned traveller as the location, Rumphi, is quite a remote part of Malawi.
