Experienced Accountant for Health Org. in India

Our partner, based in India, is a health and development organisation working to restore health, hope and dignity to people affected by leprosy, tuberculosis, malaria, HIV and AIDS, blindness and other health conditions exacerbated by stigma and social discrimination.  Our partner currently has projects in five of the heartland states of India and over 2 million beneficiaries have accessed health services delivered by them.

It is a large organisation with a very well set-up accounting system. The finance team, across multiple offices in India, currently numbers 60 in total. However, you would predominantly be working in the head-office in the city of Hyderabad with the senior finance team. Our partner needs a highly experienced finance professional, with prior experience of working and managing bigger organisations, to volunteer for 3-4 weeks and conduct a thorough organisational review of the current finance set-up. The senior management at the organisation believe that there is scope for improvement and would like the support of a skilled and experienced volunteer in making recommendations to streamline their finance and accounting function. This would be a first volunteer assignment and as the first AfID volunteer at the organisation you will need to gain an understanding of the organisation and its structure, assessing its existing financial procedures and controls, and making recommendations and implement changes that you deem necessary.

Accommodation will be a guesthouse provided by the organisation and will cost £70 per week inclusive of all meals. Ideally a volunteer will be able to start from December onwards for 3-4 weeks.

Please note that overseas assignments, in this case India, will incur a placement fee as per the AfID Tailored Volunteer Programme fee scale (see website for more details)
