Qualified Accountant with Experience of Quickbooks | 3 weeks | London

Our partner’s mission is to make a long term impact on global poverty by supporting pioneering education projects in some of the world’s poorest countries. Working with local partners and schools, its innovative approach provides a high-quality, low-cost business and skills-based education where academic learning is reinforced by hands-on experience. At the same time it builds schools’ ability to generate a sustainable income and plan for the future. Its philosophy is: give a man a fish and he’ll eat for a day, teach a man to fish and he’ll eat for a lifetime.

About the Role
As a small organisation with 8 staff members in the UK, finance tasks have to date been carried out by the CEO with support from a part time book-keeper. While this has been adequate in the past our partner would now like to strengthen its financial management processes across all areas in order to lay the groundwork for future growth. As a first step in this regard it is looking for a qualified accountant, with good experience of Quickbooks 2010, and ideally with some non-profit experience, to assist for 3 weeks on a full time voluntary basis with the following:

•         Reviewing existing financial management processes along with recommendations for improvements
•         Completion of an updated finance manual
•        Revising the management accounts and budgets formats
•        Training for book-keeper and relevant staff on revised processes
•        Additional finance related activities as required

This role would be based at the office in Finsbury Park (Zone 2]. Volunteers travel costs will be covered up to cost of a Zone 1/2 travel card.
