LONDON | Interim Finance Manager | 6 Months | £40-45K

INTRODUCTION
 
Our partner’s ambition is to create a thriving, sustainable sugarcane sector, by meaningfully improving farming communities, business and supply chains, and creating, capturing and transferring both knowledge and capital value. 
 
Its exciting new strategy is based around three core imperatives: Inform, Improve and Inspire. It will work to three guiding principles: partnership working, knowledge transfer and capture, and being globally credible yet locally relevant. 
 
To support the implementation of its new strategy, it is undertaking a staffing restructure, which it expects will result in significant organizational growth. it is therefore recruiting an Interim Finance Manager to take immediate ownership of the finances, to take them through their financial year end and budgeting processes, and to help them to design the future shape and role of the finance function.
 
JOB PURPOSE
 
To ensure the financial integrity and to be responsible for the financial planning, monitoring, reporting and the implementation of policies, systems and processes across the organisation.
 
Including:
 
1. Managing the Finance function, in particular:  
• Accounting to meet legal requirements including, taxation, VAT returns and liaising with external accountants/auditors as well as production of regular financial reports for the Finance Committee and the Board of Directors
• Overseeing successful final implementation of Sage.
• Preparing accurate and timely financial information.
• Ensuring appropriate authorisation, timing and dispatch of payments.
• Oversight of operation of the payroll system
• To mentor and develop junior team members to fulfil their potential
• To assist with planning the future shape and role of the finance function
 
2. Producing the annual budget for approval and year-end accounts, and in particular:
• Finalising the end of year  processes (Y/E 31 March 2015)
• leading the overall annual business planning and budget setting process to meet the aspirations for growth in 2015
 
3. Improving financial processes and controls to progress the overall financial reporting environment, and in particular:
• Independent Review/Audit and identify opportunities for information or quality improvements in financial information or systems
 
PERSON SPECIFICATION
 
KNOWLEDGE
• Qualified Accountant with a recognised accountancy body 
• Considerable experience of financial management and accounting, ideally with experience in the not-for-profit sector
• Ready to ‘hit-the-ground-running’
• Current and in depth knowledge of financial management and accounting
• Detailed knowledge of financial accounting and reconciliations; financial systems and process development 
• Substantial experience of providing forward financial planning, budgeting, budgetary control, and final accounts
• Considerable experience of using Sage. 
 
ABILITIES
• Ability to devise annual budgets and monitor implementation
• Ability to establish robust financial procedures
• Ability to absorb technical information, understand implications and present clearly to non-finance staff both in written form and verbally
• Ability to identify and apply a strategic and solution-focused view on problems 
• Ability to develop and mentor junior team members
