ZAMBIA | Finance & Internal Controls Mentor Accountant

Mentor Accountant needed for to the economic well-being of the poor through effective provision of appropriate financial services.

Start: July - Sep     Assignment length: 3 - 6 -12 month     Resources: Flights + 1000 USD pcm Stipend

Our partner is a Micro finance charity focussed on offering financial assistance to low income households in rural Zambia, through 4 branches.  Current offerings includes loans and future products are likely to include insurance and possibly deposits.

As an early stage socially focused microfinance institution they do not have access to a lot of financial resources to invest in building a high quality Zambian senior management.  Accounting, internal controls and financial reporting are some of the areas that they are sturggling with and an AFID volunteer can help significantly in hands-on training of our existing team in Finance and Internal Controls.

Responsibilities: A wide range, from design of internal audit framework, to execution and quality control, including the finance department functions.

Outcomes: Establishment of a functioning internal audit system in the organisation, streamlining the accounting and financial reporting systems and processes.

Our partner is ideally looking for a volunteer to start between July-Sep for a period of 6-12 months. They will be able to cover the cost of flights and provide a 1000 USD stipend to cover additional expenses.

Please note that overseas assignments, in this case Zambia, will incur a placement fee as per the AfID Structured Volunteer Programme fee scale (see website for more details).
