CAMBODIA | Performing Arts and Cultural Heritage Charity

Our partner is an arts based NGO committed to creating and nurturing Cambodian contemporary dance and theatre.  They work with artists who, using their country’s ancient performing arts heritage, are intent on ushering Cambodian dance into the future.

At present, they have a Quickbooks/Excel based accounting system. Past AfID volunteers have undertaken assessments to ensure their accounting system and controls and ensure that finance tasks ranging  from daily book-keeping to account reporting are being done accurately. The most recent volunteer spent 3 weeks with our partner earlier this year. He worked on reviewing and updating the Finance Manual, and internal controls. He helped to design some management reporting formats, and created a 'Management Letter' with a clear list of all action points and responsible persons.

You will be the fifth volunteer on assignment. You will assist the accountant with the use of Quickbooks, to make sure it is being used to its full capacity, and help create a budget for the new fiscal year (starting in July), upload it onto Quickbooks, and generate reports from the software.

There is no expectation for you to have prior knowledge of Quickbooks; that said, the core of the assignment will be to help them make the most out of the software, and therefore they are seeking an IT-savvy volunteer who is open to familiarising himself/herself with the software beforehand.

This assignment will be for 4 weeks, and will start from September onwards.

Please note that overseas assignments, in this case Cambodia, incur a placement fee as per the AfID Tailored Volunteer Programme fee scale (see FAQs for more details).
