SIERRA LEONE | Accountant for Global Health Organisation Rebuilding Health Infrastructure

Start:  ASAP   Assignment Length: 2-5 months   Resources: Flights, Accomm. + £1,000 p/m

Having set up in Sierra Leone to join the emergency relief effort following the Ebola outbreak, our partner has since stayed to focus on the strengthening of the health system in the country. This global organisation is working to reduce the impact of the virus on Sierra Leone’s health infrastructure and to ensure other medical conditions receive attention and treatment as required.

Our partner is currently closing the fiscal year and could use extra support with the close, audit preparation and additional training of staff in accounting basics. The key deliverables of the role are:
  • Assist with finalising closing of fiscal year and end of year reconciliations for September audit
  • Capacity building with current accounting staff to address the daily accounting and fund reporting needs in country. There are three locations our partner is working in, so this will involve some travel in the country.
  • Help to ensure proper closing of month end with associated balance sheet reconciliations
This role is fully structured; our partner will cover all costs and expenses for the volunteer including food, transportation and phone calls whilst in-country. This placement is available immediately, and should last between 2-5 months.

Please note that overseas assignments, in this case Sierra Leone, will incur a placement fee as per the AfID Structured Volunteer Programme fee scale (see website for more details).
