LONDON | Senior Finance Manager of Global Programmes | £42-46k

Our partner is a leading international development agency working in partnership with associations in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean and the Middle East to create opportunities for vulnerable young people and their communities.  

You would be part of a newly created global programmes team, amid structural changes within the organisation, and will be working within the humanitarian department of the organisation. This role would allow for high exposure to all programmes and other business areas within the organisation. Our partner’s Finance Team have recently reorganised their finance and accounting function, as well as a recently applied new system for accounting. This is all in progress to aim to deliver high results for their system of support to the charity’s performance.

You provide support and assistance to senior members in the global programmes team, specifically regarding the quality of financial management of the organisation with respect to business models, risk analysis and financial management to reinforce sound financial performance.

You will line manage a team of 6 and will also provide advice and support to colleagues regarding financial proposals, reporting, auditing and compliance.

Key deliverables:
  • Provide strategic and financial support to the team to manage an annual expenditure of £35 million
  • Ensure that financial models and support is provided for all new initiatives 
  • Build relationships with all collaborators, throughout the organisation, to ensure financial plans are aligned throughout departments
  • Lead the development of a business plan and communicate priorities and delegate to team members
  • Line manage a team of 6 business partners

An ideal candidate will have a recognised accounting qualification, knowledge of financial management regulations and reporting requirements of major international donors, and experience of working in the field. These are desirable specifications and not essential. It is important that all candidates have an understanding of the difference between the humanitarian sector and international development.

You will be joining a young and ambitious team where there is a lot of opportunity to move across the wide range of programmes within the organisation. There is scope for travel in the role, if desired.
