ETHIOPIA | Interim Head of Finance for Agricultural NGO Working to Bring About Rural Prosperity

Our partner works with smallholder farmers to pioneer techniques to boost harvests, whilst sustaining natural resources, with the aim to help them feed Africa’s people.

They are seeking an Interim Head of Finance for 3 months; their request stems from resource gaps as well as a desire from senior management to make changes within the organisation.

In addition to assuming the responsibilities of the Head of Finance, they have requested that the pro bono consultant assists them in in assessing their existing processes and systems, and implementing suitable recommendations; at present, it is felt that the finance function assumes a bookkeeping/transactional role, and they would like to see this develop into a function that supports good programmes, provides management with information and support to make sound organisational decisions.

You will also undertake an assessment of their SUN accounting system, which they feel they have outgrown (but are not in a position to replace altogether as yet); they would benefit from assistance in making the most of the system, especially increasing efficiencies in budget creation and monitoring.

Our partner is seeking a volunteer for a period of 3 months, starting from October onwards. They are able to cover the costs of flights and accommodation as well as providing a stipend.

Please note that overseas assignments, in this case Ethiopia, incur a placement fee as per the AfID Structured Volunteer Programme fee scale (see FAQs for more details).
