URGENT | BRISTOL/REMOTE | Volunteer Accountant @ Social Justice Charity

Our partner is a global charity committed to working with local partners in Africa to support marginalised individuals and communities to exercise their rights by finding African solutions to African problems, they have successfully changed the lives of thousands of women, men and children for the better.

Our partner is an international development organisation working with partners in Ghana and Tanzania. Through partners, they support local communities on issues of women’s rights, gender equality, girls’ education, secure livelihoods including land rights, and health rights. In the UK, they run global education projects. Through knowledge and confidence building we support poor and marginalised people to claim and exercise their rights.

With a core team of 7 staff, our partner relies on a network of volunteers and the input of its Board of Trustees to expand its capacity.  Since 2008 the number of grants funded by DFID, Comic Relief and Trust and Foundations has increased. Currently our partner manages two institutional donor grants, with two more in the pipeline, and a number of smaller grants from Trust and Foundations.

Our partner has recently recruited its first Tanzania based staff member and is in the process of registering as an organisation in Tanzania. The organisation is therefore in need of the development of a financial management & procedures manual for its new office.

There is a need to correctly document and provide recommendations to improve its existing financial and grant management systems. For this reason we are seeking a volunteer accountant to provide technical assistance to develop and introduce an improve grant management system through close liaison with our partner’s Treasurer, CEO, Programmes- and other relevant staff.
