LONDON | Project Accountant for Health Charity partner | £40k

Our partner is a commercially diverse and self-sustainable health charity seeking an experienced Project Accountant.

The Project Accountant is responsible for standard budgeting, accounting and reporting, inter company, programme financial analysis and capacity building duties in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles, partner regulations and specific grant requirements.
 
Key Responsibilities
Donor Reporting and Accounting:
  • Ensure accurate donor reports are submitted on a timely basis to donors. Co-ordinating the donor reporting calendar to
  • Ensure country programmes provide information in sufficient time to ensure compilation of the donor report also
  • Ensuring the financial information reconciles to SUN and links to project activities and is compliant with donor regulations
  • Provide update on outstanding project reports, respective debtors balances and income balances on the projects as agreed with line manager
  • Provide information to accurate cash flow forecasting
  • Review accuracy of project accounts on activities involving multi country, multiyear projects by review on a monthly basis of programme status reports
  • Ensure staged payments are received on a timely basis. By submission of invoices to donors and the database is updated
  • Provide cumulative financial analysis on the life of a project. This information will inform our statutory accounts and
  • Ensure donors reporting are accurate
  • Ensure on-going changes in donor reporting guidelines are understood throughout the organisation and relevant changes made to systems & procedures
  • Provide training to London based and international staff on donor reporting processes and respective issues
  • Where appropriate become a focal person for a dedicated area in donor reporting team i.e. Specific Donor, Specific Projects, Specific team etc.
Programme Accounting:
  • Reconcile Inter-company account balances with designated country programmes by providing necessary paperwork for the transactions generated in London and posting journals for transactions generated in country programme
  • Reconcile deferred income balances on a project basis – ensuring linkage to donor reports
  • Ensure that the treatment of financial transactions in designated country programmes is in line with financial policies and procedures, best practice and follows donor compliance.
Auditing:
  • Support year-end audit processes including collation of paperwork and reconciliation of control accounts with country programmes.
  • Coordinate audits and assist partners and in-country staff in preparing for audits and providing necessary information and paperwork related to UK expenditure
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Experience (essential/desirable)
  • Substantial experience in project accounting and financial management of large international projects and country programmes
  • Substantial experience of financial reporting to governmental, private and institutional donors
  • Experience working in a multicultural environment
  • Experience working with financial systems and software (SUN systems preferred)
  • Experience of Vision and Q&A
  • Experience working in a not for profit environment (Preferred) and organizational headquarters.
  • Qualifications and Training (essential/desirable)
  • Accounting or Business Qualification
  • Certified accountant ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent.
