ECUADOR | Sexual and Reproductive Health Organisation

Our partner was established in 1975, starting as a family planning clinic. Today it is one of the largest sexual and reproductive health organisations in Ecuador managing 22 clinics in 10 provinces around the country.

The services they offer include access to sexual and reproductive health services via local centres, paediatrics, psychology and general medicine.

The need for an assignment was initiated by their US based donor as a result of a period of change for our partner. They would benefit from a first AfID volunteer who could build the local staff capacity; revise process and create budget projections; detect new opportunities to diversify funding; build systems to forecast expenditures; identify financial mismanagement and design controls for clinical costs to hold centres accountable and create strategies on how to pay off debt incurred from centre closures.

You would be based mainly in Quito where there are 9 clinics but will also have the opportunity to visit some of the clinics in 10 provinces always supported by a member of the finance team.

Our partner is able to cover the costs of flights and visas, and can offer assistance to the volunteer in finding suitable accommodation.

Please note that overseas assignments, in this case Ecuador, incur a placement fee as per the AfID Tailored Volunteer Programme fee scale (see FAQs for more details).
