The Kasiisi Project works with several research groups in and around Kibale National Park to target critical issues for the survival of the forest whilst supporting local communities. They support early childhood education, in particular addressing the needs of girls; promote conservation and health education; and fund secondary school and college scholarships.

Lee San (qualified FCCA, 2008) is a past AfID volunteer, currently working as a Business Analyst for HSBC in London. She spent 3 months in 2012 supporting the Kasiisi Project in Kibale, Uganda.

Lee San was the first volunteer on assignment with the Kasiisi Project; as such, a large part of her role was to undertake an assessment of their controls and processes, and make and help implement any recommendations. Importantly, with Kasiisi Project’s Director, Elizabeth, splitting her time between Uganda and the United States, it was important that she was receiving accurate reports on time from Uganda. Lee San helped improve financial reporting.

She was also instrumental in introducing our programme to Kasiisi Project and pivotal in setting the tone of our relationship with them. Elizabeth really appreciated Lee San’s efforts, and we confirmed a second placement later in the year to help Kasiisi Project implement and use Quickbooks.

Lee San kindly took the time to present at our workshop.
