Urgent assignment in Phnom Penh!
Auditor/Qualified Accountant
Our partner in Cambodia helps NGOs play a key role in poverty reduction
Start: URGENT!
2-3 months
An urgent and exciting assignment in Phnom Penh for Auditors/Qualified Accountants! Our partner in Cambodia helps NGOs play a key role in poverty reduction and needs someone urgently to conduct an audit and provide support on financial and business modelling.
Our partner in Cambodia was founded in 2008 as a direct response to the ability of NGOs to play a key role in poverty reduction in Asia and Africa. To achieve this, they provide different development services: fundraising, marketing and branding and organisational development. Their services are specially tailored, and designed to meet each partner’s individual needs. They open up to its partner organisations resources, and its unique approach to social entrepreneurship ensures that their services improve each client organisation’s transparency, accountability and efficiency.
Our partner is directed and staffed by a team of socially minded development professionals, who have dedicated their lives and their work to the fight against poverty. They believe in each organisation they serve and the power they have to change the lives of the most vulnerable.
The organisations that our partner is working with are seeing a change in the way they are structured; moving away from an NGO-structure to a social business/enterprise with income-generating activities. The primary aim of the assignment would be to support in developing financial models and structures available to these organisations to make a smooth transition. A team is already doing in-depth research on legal structures around the new setting; to ensure how they can get revenue, how the revenue is spent and accounting around there. The next volunteer will therefore provide support on financial and business modelling side.
Our partner had two AfID volunteers working with them and their main recommendations were to reconciliate the accounts and switch from cash-based to accruals-based accounting. A secondary task of the assignment will be to audit this change to ensure that this has been done correctly.
Depending on the length of the placement and calibre of the candidate, they are willing to consider paying for the accommodation / offering a stipend.
Please note that both these placements will incur the AfID Tailored Volunteer Programme fee: £695 (Concessions £495)
