Sally (qualified ICAS, 2007) is a past AfID volunteer, just back this week from placement! On a year’s sabbatical in 2013, Sally decided to spend 2 months of her leave supporting Health Poverty Action (HPA) in Freetown, Sierra Leone.

 

Sally was the second AfID volunteer on assignment with the HPA, Sierra Leone country office. Since then the Sierra Leone programme continues to grow and Sally’s placement was primarily to continue to provide further support to the local finance team. She assisted in strengthening internal processes and controls and building the confidence of the finance staff on day-to-day accounting. HPA were so appreciative of Sally’s support, they even asked her to extend her placement.
