About You
You are an Excel wizard – capable of quickly developing flawless budgets, costing templates, and various financial models and projections. You need to have proven that you can filter through financial and organizational complexity to produce simple, scalable financial systems and tools. We view finance in the non-profit sector as a creative open-field. We are looking for someone who will push the limits of what’s possible in non-profit finance and establish the org. as an innovator and standard-setter for simple, compelling, and transparent financials.
 
You have a remarkable eye for detail, are a fast learner and can adapt to be effective in the most challenging of circumstances. As a Finance Associate, you’ll be responsible for ensuring compliance with internal policies and outside regulatory requirements as well as preparing financial and strategic analysis with programmatic data.
 
Key Responsibilities
• Support the design and implementation of financial strategies through robust policies and procedures
• Provide the financial insight and tools needed to support our Program Managers and Associates in building their teams
• Execute costing the district-level scaling of our model, with an emphasis on the successes of the local program as a model for regional and national replication
• Analyse, model and solve problems on a wide range of business issues
• Coordinate stewardship of the organization’s cash while meeting tight timelines by maintaining monthly cash flow projections
• Work closely with the Director of Finance, Chief Finance Officer, and field teams to validate and maintain management data and processes.
• Act as the central reference responsible for the integrity and accuracy of all published figures and records
 
Knowledge and Experience
This position requires knowledge of financial accounting and experience designing and implementing financial systems in compliance with Syscohada and US GAAP. The successful candidate will need to be able to support and motivate a dynamic and culturally diverse team. In reviewing applicants we will be seeking a demonstrated record of assuming significant professional responsibility and delivering on complex organisational goals with integrity and grace.
 
Experience in Francophone Africa is viewed extremely favourable, including working knowledge of SYSCOHADA.
 
Additional Requirements
• High degree of English and French fluency required
• Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field
• CPA highly desirable
• At least 3 years of experience in managing financial accounting, reporting and control functions, and auditing process required
• Knowledge of QuickBooks and /or other accounting software strongly preferred
• Strong manager and team leader, ability to manage multiple projects and functions and prioritize goals, ability to problem-solve both big picture and day-to-day issues.
• Highly organized and attentive to detail
• Flexible and adaptive work style with the ability to thrive in an entrepreneurial, fast-paced environment.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills, ability to communicate clearly and concisely to all stakeholders
• High level of initiative to innovate and lead in remote and resource-limited settings
