Our partner is the charitable entity for a Hong Kong-based investment manager and works across two programmatic areas: children at risk and the environment. They were established in 2006 to provide strategic funding and other support to organisations that work towards ensuring a better life for some of Asia’s most marginalized children. In addition it focuses on environmental conservation in a manner that is sustainable and sensitive to local cultures.
Job responsibilities:
Internal -
• Manage and prepare federal and state foreign registration filings in the United States
• Coordinate and manage the audit and form 990 PF of 501(c)3 entity in the United States; IRD filings and audits in Hong Kong
• Track and manage payments to grantees and receipts from donors; more general organisational financial management, including preparation and monitoring of semi-annual budgets
• Manage monthly bookkeeping, accounting and reporting via Quickbooks in collaboration with the Office Manager
• Manage and coordinate other legal, human resource and operational responsibilities as needed
• Work with CEO and programme managers to develop innovative financial structures and for-profit approaches to working with project partners
External -
• Work directly with projects to support and develop their accounting and financial management internal controls, processes and understanding
• Perform financial audits during the due diligence and monitoring processes as needed
• Train portfolio organisations using proprietary accounting and financial management software developed by Capital Foundation
• Communicate with staff members from portfolio organisations via Skype and directly in field offices to answer questions and improve financial literacy
• Review and improve portfolio financial reports in collaboration with Programme Directors
• Coordinate funding schedules and donor reporting with Programme Directors
• Assist Programme Directors with other due diligence, monitoring and support functions as needed
Job Qualifications:
• CPA (HK or US), preferably with audit and/or non-profit accounting experience
• Experience with Quickbooks preferred
• Ability to work independently and travel extensively
• Good analytical, finance and planning skills
• Strategic thinking
• Preferably, experience working with private foundations or other philanthropic organizations
• Additional language skills a plus (Mandarin, other Asian language)
