Past volunteer, John Quelch- Woolls is an FCMA accountant who retired in 2014. He spent some time enjoying a new leisurely lifestyle before deciding to do some volunteer work to use the skills he honed over his career in finance. John undertook a 3 month assignment with AfID supporting Butterflies in New Dehli, India.

John was the third AfID volunteer to support Butterflies, and on placement his role was to review their accounting processes and financial controls, identify any gaps and providing recommendations on improvements. John also helped to create internal audit procedures and assist with budget, cashflow and fund flow preparation.

John found the experience of living and working in a totally different environment very rewarding. He enjoyed exploring New Delhi and also had the chance to explore a few other parts of India.
