Dream Achievers Youth Organisation , Mombasa, Kenya

Dream Achievers Youth Organisation (DAYO) was established in May 2005 by a group of young people who wanted to use community theatre as a participatory strategy for disseminating information and educating the community on issues of sexual and reproductive health, human rights and HIV/AIDS.

Vision: A community where youth are free from diseases and poverty.
Mission: To build capacity and respond by preventing and reducing the risks of diseases and socio-economic situations among youth in the region.
DAYO currently runs 3 programmes in support of the youth in Mombasa:
  • Imarisha Vijana Project:  funded by the UK Department for International Development and implemented by Adam Smith International. The project is committed to fight the root causes of youth unemployment in Mombasa by providing vocational training and career advice.
  • Dance 4 Life Kenya: is an international initiative that targets youths aged 10-24 years with information and skills on HIV/AIDS prevention and reproductive health education.
  • Rapid HIV Testing &Prevention Project: DAYO with support of the Aids Healthcare Foundation has initiated HIV testing and counselling (HTC) in homesteads at Kisauni Sub-County to support increased uptake and improve access to HIV prevention, treatment and care.
